Forecasting Austin and South Central Texas Weather Since 1984

Updated 915am CT – Wednesday / 22 November 2017

.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Over the Next Seven Days ..
.. Another Dry Cold Frontal Passage Saturday ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is over northeastern Kansas. The cold front that passed the area just before the dinner hour last night is now located from the Appalachians to just offshore of the upper and middle Texas coast then over south Texas into northeastern Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are northerly.

On the upper air map… a deep upper level low pressure trough extending southward from Hudson Bay over the eastern half of the USA and into the Gulf of Mexico. An upper air high pressure is located off the west coast of Baja Peninsula over the eastern Pacific Ocean basin. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are strong northerly 85 to 95 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

A dry and cooler weather pattern prevails through Thanksgiving with plenty of sunshine expected. As the high pressure area overhead now moves eastward we’ll see a slow warming trend Friday into Saturday.

Another weak cold front is expected to pass southward over the area on Saturday with temperatures cooling a few degrees by late in the weekend into early next week.

With a stable and relatively dry weather pattern in place, I do not anticipate and precipitation over south central Texas over the next seven days.

Have a good Tuesday….
