.. Better Rain and Thunderstorm Chances Next Week with Cold Front ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a surface high pressure is over the southeastern USA and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. A trough, or line, of low pressure extends southwestward from a surface low over eastern Colorado south southwestward over western Texas and eastern New Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are south southeasterly.

Upper air map… a deepening trough, or line, of low pressure is over the northwestern USA. An upper air high extends from Texas northeastward into the Great Lakes states. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are north northwesterly 35 to 45 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Isolated rain showers are possible today with an otherwise stable weather pattern with above average afternoon high temperatures will persist through the weekend.

By early next week, as our atmosphere becomes a little more unstable, cloudiness will increase a bit with rain chances increasing with afternoon high temperatures settling below seasonal levels. In response to the eastward movement of the upper level low over the western USA, a southeastward moving cold front will result in increased rain chances by late Tuesday into Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will fall to below seasonal averages by the middle to latter part of next week. At this point, any rainfall, where it occurs, over for the early into middle part of next week will average between one and two inches.

Have a good Friday….
