.. Slim Rain Chances Today ..
.. Dry Weather Pattern for the Weekend ..
.. Better Rain and Thunderstorm Chances Next Week with Cold Front ..
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a surface high pressure is over the southeastern USA and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. A trough, or line, of low pressure extends southwestward from the front over northwest Texas panhandle to southern New Mexico and far southwest Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are southerly.
Upper air map… a broad area of low pressure extends southward from south central and southwestern Canada into north central and northwestern parts of the USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are westerly 15 to 25 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
A weak atmospheric disturbance will trigger widely scattered rain showers and thunderstorms today mainly in areas east of the IH35 corridor.
An otherwise dry stable weather pattern with slightly above average afternoon high temperatures will persist through the weekend.
By early next week, as our atmosphere becomes a little more unstable, cloudiness will increase a bit with rain chances increasing with afternoon high temperatures settling below seasonal levels. A southeastward moving cold front will increase even further the rain chances by late Tuesday into Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will fall to slightly below seasonal averages by the middle to latter part of next week. At this point, any rainfall, where it occurs, over for the early into middle part of next week will average between one and two inches.
Have a good Thursday….
