.. A Mostly Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a surface high pressure is over the southeastern USA and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico with a cold front extending southwestward from the upper Mississippi Valley into central Kansas into the northwest Texas panhandle into northeastern New Mexico and southern Colorado. A trough, or line, of low pressure extends southwestward from the front over northwest Texas panhandle to southern New Mexico and far southwest Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are southerly.

Upper air map… a broad area of low pressure extends southward from British Columbia southward into the western third of the USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are west northwesterly at 20 to 30 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

A dry stable weather pattern with slightly above average afternoon high temperatures continuing to hold through today.

By tomorrow, as our atmosphere becomes a little more unstable, cloudiness will increase a bit with slim rain chances with afternoon high temperatures closer to seasonal levels. At this point, any rainfall, where it occurs over our area tomorrow, would average 1/4 inch or less.

After a dry Friday and weekend, increasing rain chances return for the early and mid part of next week with a partly to mostly cloudy sky prevailing as a weak cold front moves into central Texas by Wednesday. Afternoon high temperatures will settle down a few degrees by the middle part of next week as a result of the thickening clouds and better rain chances.

Have a good Wednesday….
