Forecasting Austin and South Central Texas Weather Since 1984

TK’s Weather Update for Tuesday / 08 August 2017 ….

Updated 915am CT – Tuesday / 08 August 2017

.. Decreasing Rain Chances ..
.. More Sunshine and Warmer Temperatures ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a weakening cold front extends from a surface low over southern Tennessee and northern Alabama southwestward through central Mississippi and central Louisiana and across south central Texas then over northern Mexico then northwestward to west to El Paso and into western New Mexico. High pressure, north of the front, is centered over northeastern Nebraska and Iowa. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are northerly.

Upper air map… a trough, or line, of upper level low pressure trough (line of low pressure) extends southward from Canada over the eastern 2/3rd of the USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over south central Texas are light and variable.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Rain chances are decreasing now as upper level high pressure slowly builds back overhead by late week into the weekend with clouds thinning and sunshine increasing. Temperatures will be increasing back to near or above seasonal averages.

Have a good Tuesday….
