… A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern …
On this Wednesday… a southeastward moving cold front extends southwestward from a surface low over west central Illinois into central Arkansas and the ArkLaTex region then along the Texas coast into far south Texas. Surface high pressure, to the northwest of the front, is building southeastward from Canada into the Rockies. As a result, our surface winds across south central Texas are northerly.
In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. an upper level low pressure trough.. or line of upper air low pressure.. extends southwestward from Hudson Bay into the southern Rockies and the southwestern USA. Our upper level winds, at about 18,500 feet overhead, are southwesterly 75 to 85 mph.
A dry and stable weather pattern continues across our area with the surface high that is moving southeastward through the state in the wake of our early morning cold front.
Cooler temperatures will prevail through the upcoming weekend. Another very weak reinforcing cold front will pass the area late Friday into Saturday with only a few clouds present.
I do not expect any precipitation over the next seven days with temperatures close to seasonal levels.
