TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 915am CT – Friday / 01 May 2015

.. A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern ..
.. Next Storm System by Early to Mid Next Week ..
.. Rain and Thunderstorm Chances Show Up By Next Tuesday ..

On this Friday…. a surface high pressure area extends southward from Illinois south southwestward into the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are light southwesterly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. an east northeastward moving upper level low pressure system is east of Hudson Bay southward into the northeastern USA. A weaker low pressure disturbance is located over South Texas and the Texas coastal plains. As a result, our upper air winds at about 18,500 feet are northeasterly at 10 to 15 mph.

As we wrap up the week, a dry and stable air mass continues across our area.

Temperatures will be warmer into the weekend as a southerly surface wind flow becomes reestablished. Even so, expect plenty of sunshine through our upcoming weekend.

An upper air low pressure storm system will approach us from the west with increased cloud cover and rain showers and thunderstorm chances by next Tuesday and continuing through much of next week. Early guidance.. from the National Weather Service.. suggests than 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall across our area for the Monday night and Tuesday through Thursday time period.

Have a good Friday….
