A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern ….
No Big Frontal Passages/Air Mass Changes over the Next Seven Days ….

On this Wednesday morning…. surface high pressure is over the southeastern USA with a weakening cold front from central Arkansas south southwestward across the Texas coastal plains and then westward into northeastern Mexico and southwest Texas. Given this surface pressure pattern, surface winds are light northeasterly across our area of the state.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere… a broad upper level trough.. or line.. of low pressure is over the western Great Lakes and upper Mississippi Valley southward through Louisiana. Another upper level low has worked ashore into Washington and Oregon. As a result of this upper air pattern, winds over south central Texas and the Austin metro area about 18,000 feet above the ground are west northwesterly 35 to 45 mph.

In the wake of yesterday’s upper air disturbance and cold front, a more stable late spring weather pattern is expected to continue through late week and then hold through the upcoming weekend and through Memorial Day. With this pattern, we can expect late night and early morning low cloudiness, otherwise a partly cloudy sky with above average daytime high temperatures.

Have a good Tuesday night and Wednesday…
