TK’s Weather Discussion (Wed/4Jul2012)

Updated 130pm CDT Wednesday / 4 July 2012

…. A Stable Upper Level High Pressure Continues over the Area ….
…. Above Average High Temperatures Expected to Continue ….
…. A More Unstable Air Mass will Result in Rain Chances by Sunday into Next Week ….

On this Wednesday… a surface high pressure area is located over the southeastern USA  and to the west over the southwestern states. A trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extends southward from western Colorado into western New Mexico and northern Mexico. As a result of this pressure pattern, a south southeasterly surface wind is prevailing across our area.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere, the upper high pressure ridge, acting like a lid on the atmosphere, continues across our area. As a result of the upper air wind flow, the upper level winds are light and variable over our area.

The upper level high is rebuilding over the area, especially north of the area, and this will resulting in a stable weather pattern across south central Texas. Over the coming days, we’ll see a little more sunshine along with the above average afternoon high temperatures.

This warm and humid tropical weather pattern will continue through the week and into the weekend. Late night and early morning low clouds will prevail over the coming days.

There continues to be indication of a more unstable air mass along with the a little more influence off the Gulf of Mexico by Sunday into the first half of next week. There is enough model agreement now for me to include slim rain chances beginning Sunday and continuing through Monday and Tuesday. At this point, rainfall amounts should be rather meager.

For Austin and south central Texas… tonight will be partly cloudy early with low clouds late with lows in the 70s. Southerly wind. For tomorrow, morning low clouds will give way to a mostly sunny sky with highs in the 90s. Southerly wind.

Have a good Wednesday night and Thursday…
