.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..
.. Reinforcing Cold Front Due Tonight and Again Friday ..
.. Slim Rain Chances Friday into Friday Night As Second Front Passes ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a surface high pressure area is located Texas and over Colorado in the wake of the cold front that passed Sunday morning. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are light westerly.

On the upper air map… a deep trough, or line, of upper air low pressure stretches south southeastward from west of Hudson Bay to the lower Mississippi Valley. An area of upper level high pressure is located over southern California and northwestern Mexico. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are north northwesterly 30 to 40 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

In the wake of Sunday morning’s cold front, skies have cleared with drier conditions having overspread the area. A westerly surface wind flow will result in a warmup today with afternoon high temperatures well above seasonal averages.

A secondary reinforcing cold front will move through the area late tonight into the predawn hours Tuesday; it will usher in additional cooling and dry air. Since the air mass ahead of the front will be dry and stable, I expect little in the way of sensible weather, other than a wind shift, with the frontal passage. Plenty of sunshine will prevail for tomorrow through the latter part of the week.

Another stronger cold front, in association with a passing upper air low pressure disturbance, will cross Texas late Friday into Friday night. A few rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible as the system passes but look to be slim as the system passes.

Under a mostly clear sky, cooler and drier air will once again dominate for the upcoming weekend with the coolest air so far for the fall season.

Have a good Monday….
