.. Rain Chances Linger ..
.. More Sunshine Late Week through the Weekend ..
.. Stronger Cold Front By Early Next Week ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is over the western Atlantic Ocean and inland over Virginia. A cold front extends from northern Illinois into eastern Kansas where it turns stationary and extends southwestward across the Texas panhandle and into northern New Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are east southeasterly.

Upper air map… upper level high pressure extends eastward from Texas into the Tennessee Valley. A deep broad trough, or line, of upper level low pressure extends from south and western Canada over the western half of the USA with the main low pressure disturbance, with counterclockwise flow, over northern Nevada, southwestern Idaho and southeastern Oregon. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are northwesterly about 20 to 25 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

The slug of Gulf of Mexico moisture, with clouds and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, has made itself felt over our area over the last 24 hours. Rain chances will decrease through tonight with even some breaks in the clouds expected as somewhat drier air works into the area from the east northeast.

A drier and more stable weather pattern will once again take hold by tomorrow into Friday and over the upcoming weekend.

Initial guidance suggests a stronger cold front for Texas by Monday night into the predawn hours Tuesday morning with much cooler temperatures following its passage through the area. As it moves through the area, a quick round of rain showers and thunderstorms are possible.

Temperatures are expected to fall to well below seasonal averages as sunshine returns for the middle and latter part of next week.

Have a good Wednesday….
