Updated 130pm CDT Tuesday / 22 May 2012

…. A Mostly Stable Air Mass Expected over the Coming Days ….
…. Near or Slightly Above Average Afternoon Temperatures with the Sunshine ….

On this Tuesday… surface high pressure is located over the Great Lakes and over northern New Mexico. The remnants of a weak stationary front extend southwestward from central Mississippi into southeast Texas. As a result, a south southwesterly surface wind is blowing across our area.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere, a trough.. or line.. of upper air low pressure is over the eastern part of the USA with a ridge of upper air high pressure over northern Mexico and southwest Texas. Another trough is just offshore of the USA west coast.  As a result of the upper air wind flow, the upper level winds are light northwesterly over our area.

There’s little change in our weather pattern across south central Texas. The weak ridge of upper air high pressure to our west and southwest.. acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere.. will rebuild over the area late week and then weaken again over the weekend into next week.

In short, skies will continue to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. With low level moisture present, we’ll continue to see late night and early morning low cloudiness.

There is no mention of rain anywhere in my seven day forecast.

For Austin and south central Texas… tonight will be partly cloudy. Lows in the 60s. Southerly wind. For tomorrow, morning low clouds becoming partly cloudy. Highs around 90 with a southerly wind.

Have a good Tuesday night and Wednesday…
