TK’s Weather Discussion (Thu/17May2012)

Updated 130pm CDT Thursday / 17 May 2012

…. A Stable Air Mass Expected over the Coming Days ….
…. No Mention of Rain Through My Seven Day Forecast ….
…. Warmer Afternoon Temperatures with the Increased Sunshine ….

On this Wednesday… surface high pressure is located over the eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi valley. A trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extends south southwestward from western Kansas and eastern Colorado across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles and continuing southwestward across west Texas and eastern New Mexico. As a result, a light southeasterly surface wind is blowing across our area.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere, the upper level low pressure area has moved  eastward into the southeastern USA as a ridge of upper air high pressure expands across central and west Texas. As a result of the upper air wind flow, the upper level winds are light northerly over our area.

A drier and more stable weather pattern continues across the area. Skies will continue to be clear to partly cloudy. As low level moisture increases over the coming days with our southerly surface wind, we’ll see the return to late night and early morning low cloudiness.. but this is about the only change we’ll see in the coming days. There is no mention of rain anywhere in my seven day forecast.

For Austin and south central Texas… tonight will be mostly clear. Lows in the 60s. Southerly wind. For tomorrow, mostly sunny. Highs in the 80s with a southerly wind.

Have a good Thursday night and Friday…
