TK’s Weather Discussion….

I’m taking a few more days off.. here is the latest NWS/Austin-San Antonio Forecast Discussion…

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX
630 AM CDT FRI JUN 26 2015

SHORT TERM (TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY)...
FLOW ALOFT CONTINUES TO AMPLIFY WITH A BUILDING UPPER LEVEL RIDGE
CENTERED OVER THE GREAT BASIN AND A DEEPENING UPPER LEVEL TROUGH
CENTERED OVER THE GREAT LAKES TO LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THERE
COULD BE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS NEAR THE COASTAL PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON ALONG THE SEABREEZE. HOWEVER...WILL BE ISOLATED DUE TO
REDUCED MOISTURE WITH PWS NEAR 1.5 INCHES ALONG WITH A LITTLE
MORE SUBSIDENCE UNDER DEPARTING UPPER LEVEL RIDGING. ALL MODELS
SHOW A RARE LATE JUNE COLD FRONT MOVING INTO SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS
ON SATURDAY. AS THE RIDGE ERODES TO THE NORTHWEST...SUBSIDENCE
AND CAPPING WILL BE MUCH WEAKER. EXPECT THE FRONT TO PROVIDE THE
UPWARD FORCING FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. INCREASING MOISTURE
CONVERGENCE ALONG THE FRONT WITH PWS RISING TO NEAR 2 INCHES AND
SLOW STORM MOTIONS INDICATE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS ARE POSSIBLE.
STRONG THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE DUE TO MARGINAL
CAPE.

LONG TERM (SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY)...
THE FRONT STALLS OVER OR JUST SOUTH OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SLOWLY DISSIPATES ON SUNDAY. GFS WANTS TO BRING
DRIER AIR ON SUNDAY WHILE ALL OTHER MODELS KEEP THE AIRMASS MOIST
WITH PWS AROUND 2 INCHES ALONG THE FRONT. WILL MAINTAIN HIGHER
CHANCES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY
ALONG WITH POSSIBILITY OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG
THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS. ALOFT...THE WESTERN RIDGE AND EASTERN
TROUGH PATTERN CONTINUES THROUGH NEXT WEEK. AN INVERTED TROUGH...
TUTT LOW OR SHEAR AXIS REMAINS OVER CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN TEXAS.
THERE IS NO CONSENSUS ON BUILDING THE RIDGE BACK OVER SOUTH
CENTRAL TEXAS. WILL MAINTAIN THE DAILY CHANCES OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS FOR NEXT WEEK.
