… No Changes as the Summer Heat Builds …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is located to our east over the Appalachians with a cold front extending southwest from the Great Lakes into southwestern Missouri and southeastern Kansas into a weak surface low over northern Oklahoma where the front becomes stationary westward through Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle into northern New Mexico and the four corners region. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are southerly.

On the upper air map… a broad ridge, or line, of upper air high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, extends across the southern USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are southeasterly around 35 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Although some rain shower and thunderstorm could be seen in areas to our distant northwest, north and southeast over the next few days, overall the next seven days, I expect that upper level high pressure will be holding strong overhead. This establishes more of a “lid” on the atmosphere which means rain chances are out of the forecast and temperatures remain above to well above average seasonal averages.

Have a good Monday..
