… Drier Weather Pattern for the Next Seven Days as Temperatures Warm …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is located to our east over the southeastern USA and the Tennessee Valley. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are light south southeasterly.

On the upper air map… a broad ridge, or line, of upper air high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, extends eastward from the Rockies into the Ohio and Tennessee valley region. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are easterly between 10 to 15 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

A drier weather pattern is developing locally with only very slim rain and thunderstorm chances today. Any rainfall that occurs locally today over our area will average 1/10th inch or less.

Beyond today and through the balance of the seven day forecast period, upper level high pressure area will be strengthening overhead. This establishes more of a “lid” on the atmosphere which means rain chances drop from the forecast and temperatures climb back to near or slightly above seasonal averages.

Have a good Tuesday..
