.. Fourth of July Weather Update ..
.. Rain Showers and Thunderstorms Will Move into and Develop Over the IH35 Corridor
from Northeast in Next Several Hours as a Mid and Upper Low Pressure Area Moves Westward
into our Area..

Just is just a quick holiday update that weather across the IH35 corridor will deteriorate
over the next few hours as rain showers and thunderstorms.. with an associated dangerous
lightning risk and the possibility of brief heavy tropical rains.. will move into and develop over
the IH35 corridor from the northeast. Rainfall amounts, on average, will be in the 1/2 to 1 1/2
inch range but isolated totals to 2 to 4 inches will occur.

In addition to the dangerous lightning risk and brief heavy rain threat.. the NWS/Storm Prediction
Center has our area included in a MARGINAL risk area as the result of the possibility of very
strong, potentially damaging, straight line thunderstorm winds in a few areas. Given the presence
of the approaching mid and upper level low pressure and associated atmospheric wind shear, they
also mention the possibility of a few funnel clouds or weak tornadoes, but that risk seems quite slim.

This activity is forecast, by the short range high resolution models, to continue into late afternoon
before diminishing a bit after sunset tonight.

All and all, on this Fourth of July holiday, let’s be weather aware this afternoon into tonight with a
special attention to lightning, strong thunderstorm winds and brief heavy rain.
