… A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern Over the Next Five to Six Days …
… Signs of a Weather Change for Middle into Latter Part of Next Week …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is located over the southeastern USA and the western Atlantic Ocean basin as well as west of our area over the four corners region. A trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extending southwestward from southeastern Colorado into New Mexico and far west Texas around El Paso. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are southerly.

On the upper air map… a trough, or line, of upper air low pressure extends southward from eastern Hudson Bay into the northeastern USA with another one over the west coast of the USA. Sandwiched between those troughs, upper level high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, is over the southern plains. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west northwesterly at about 10 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Our atmosphere continues to be quite stable with above average afternoon temperatures expected in the coming days.

This weather pattern will continue through the balance of the week.. the weekend and into the first part of next week with little or no chance of precipitation.

While atmospheric model agreement is still not good, guidance suggests that a slug of moisture will move westward from the northern Gulf of Mexico and the coastal areas of Louisiana into Texas by Wednesday into Thursday and Friday. At this point, I will add a mention of precipitation, including the possibility of thunderstorms, beginning on Wednesday (July 4th). Rainfall amounts, at this point, for Wednesday and Wednesday night will average 1/4 inch or less. I’ll continue to monitor this potential system.

Have a good Thursday..
