… Slim Rain Chances Today into This Evening …
… Overall, Dry and Stable Over the Next Seven Days …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a weakening cold front extends south southwestward from central Kansas into north and northwest Oklahoma into the Texas south plains and them west northwestward into central New Mexico. Surface high pressure is located over the southeastern USA and the western Atlantic Ocean basin. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are south southeasterly.

On the upper air map… an upper air low pressure disturbance is over central Nebraska and northern Kansas in what is otherwise a fairly zonal (west-to-east) USA upper air wind pattern. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are southwesterly at 20 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

We’ve seen a few morning sprinkles across the area this morning with a little better flow of low level moisture as we start the week. As we add afternoon heating, it’s possible that a isolated rain showers and thunderstorms could develop in areas primarily along and east of the IH35 corridor.

Otherwise, the atmosphere continues to be quite stable with above average afternoon temperatures.

This weather pattern will continue through the week and into next weekend with little or no chance of precipitation.

Have a good Monday..
