… Dry Weather Due through the Weekend …
… Increased Humidity With Rain Chances Returning for the New Week …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a cold front extends southwestward from northern Florida through the central Gulf of Mexico into northeastern Mexico south of Brownsville. Another weakening cold front extends southwestward from southern Missouri through southeastern Oklahoma and central Texas then westward into far southwest Texas and northern Mexico. Surface high pressure, north of the front, is oriented from northwestern Wyoming into the Texas panhandle and the south plains. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are north northwesterly.

On the upper air map… a deep trough, or line, of upper level low pressure extends from Hudson Bay southward through the eastern half of the USA into the northern Gulf of Mexico. Another potent area of low pressure aloft is over the Pacific Ocean off the northern California and Oregon coasts. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are northwesterly 80 to 90 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

In the wake of the midweek cold front, a more stable weather pattern continues over the area. The weakening cold front, to our immediate northwest, will continue to weak as it moves slowly southeastward today but it will only reinforce the air mass in place.

Surface high pressure will once again move east of the area by tonight into Saturday and into early next week with low level moisture, off the Gulf of Mexico, making a return to the area.

A more unsettled weather pattern will return by the middle into the latter part of next week with rain chances reappearing in the forecast by Tuesday into Wednesday. Longer range guidance suggests the possibility of more widespread and a little heavier rainfall across Texas than we’ve seen lately by the latter part of next week. Stronger thunderstorms are possible over parts of the Lone Star State by the latter part of next week as well. I’ll continue to monitor for these possibilities.

Have a good Friday..
