… A More Stable, Less Humid Weather Pattern Returns …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… high pressure is settling in over Texas in the wake of the cold front that passed over the last 12 hours. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are northerly.

On the upper air map… an eastward moving low pressure trough, or a “line” of low pressure, extends southward from Hudson Bay and the Great Lakes southward through the Mississippi Valley. As result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are northwesterly.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Over the last 24 hours, we’ve seen the return of sunshine and a drier and more stable air mass. In addition, a surface cold front has moved through the area.

Another cold front will approach the area by late Sunday night into early next week. Rain chances look minimal as this system moves through with some lingering clouds in the wake of the front along with a little cooler temperatures. Another cold front appears in the guidance in the Tuesday night into Wednesday time frame.

Have a good Friday..

Updated 915am CT – Thursday / 29 March 2018

… Patchy Fog and Low Clouds This Morning …
… A More Stable, Less Humid Weather Pattern Returns …
… Another Cold Front and Limited Rain Chances Late Sunday …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a series of surface cold fronts that extend southwestward from the Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes states into Texas. The strongest front is located from northwest Arkansas southwestward into northwest Texas and the southern South Plains into northeastern New Mexico. High pressure is located well east of our area over the southwestern north Atlantic Ocean. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are southerly.

On the upper air map… an eastward moving deep low pressure trough, or a “line” of low pressure, extends southward from Canada into the central USA. As result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are southwesterly 95 to 105 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

As the axis of the trough of upper level area of low pressure moves east of the area in the next few hours, we’ll see the return of sunshine and a drier and more stable air mass. A surface cold front will move swiftly through the area by tonight, temperatures will drop back a few degrees tomorrow into tomorrow night.

Another stronger cold front will approach the area by late Sunday night into early Monday. Rain chances look minimal as this system moves through with some lingering clouds in the wake of the front along with a little cooler temperatures.

Have a good Thursday..
