… Sunshine to Start the Week …
… Clouds Increase as Warm Front Moves Northward Tonight into Tuesday …
… A Break in the Clouds Late Wednesday into Thursday …
… Rain Chances with Cold Frontal Passage Friday into the Weekend …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is over south central Canada and the northern plains states and the upper Mississippi Valley with the associated ridge.. or line.. of high pressure southward into Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are north northeasterly.

On the upper air map… a broad trough, or line, of low pressure extends southward from Hudson Bay over much of the USA. Within the counter clockwise flow around the trough, a east southeastward moving upper level low pressure disturbance is over northern Nevada. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west southwesterly 60 to 70 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

We’re seeing a break between weather systems today with sunshine expected along with warmer temperatures.

As the upper air low pressure disturbance out west moves east southeastward, the surface cold front out in the Gulf of Mexico, that moved through our area midday on Saturday, returns back northward. Clouds and rain chances will increase across the area by late tonight through Tuesday and into Wednesday. Temperatures will warm back above seasonal averages by Wednesday. The latest NWS Weather Prediction Center guidance suggests 1/4 inch or rain or less for our local area for the time period.

We’ll see another rather brief break in the clouds and rain chances by late Wednesday into Thursday.

Another upper air low pressure disturbance and associated surface cold front will move across Texas by Friday into Friday night. Clouds and rain chances will increase as the system passes Friday into Friday night. The clouds and rain chances will persist in the post frontal environment Saturday through Sunday with temperatures slowly warming by Sunday. NWS Weather Prediction Center guidance suggests rainfall during this period will be 1/4 inch or less.

Have a good Monday..
