… Another Day of Sunshine …
… Clouds and the Chance of Rain Returns Tonight into the Weekend …
… Another Cold Front Moves Through Texas Saturday …
… Sunshine Returns Sunday into Next Week …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure extends southwestward from middle Tennessee into the Texas coastal plains. A developing trough, or line, of low pressure extends from a surface low over southeastern Colorado and southwestern Kansas southwestward into New Mexico and southeast Arizona. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are light and variable.

On the upper air map… an upper level low pressure area is over the Great Lakes with a broad trough extending southward over the eastern half of the USA. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are southwesterly 75 to 80 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Our dry stable weather pattern continues today for south central Texas.

As the low pressure area, to our distant northwest, continues to develop and approach our area from the west northwest. As it gets closer later tonight through Friday into Saturday, we’ll see clouds and humidity increase with rain chances going up a bit. An associated cold front will move through our area by midday into early Saturday afternoon. Current NWS guidance suggests rainfall for this period will be 1/4 inch or less.

In the wake of the front, clouds and rain chances will decrease by Saturday evening with cooler air progressing southeastward over the area.

A dry and stable air mass will prevail over the area for Sunday into the early into middle part of next week with abundant sunshine.

Although it’s beyond our seven day forecast period, another cold front is forecast to move southeastward into Texas by next Thursday with an associated increase in cloud cover and perhaps some rain chances as well.

Have a good Thursday….
