… Plenty of Sunshine to Greet the New Week …
… Clouds and the Chance of Rain Returns Late Week into the Weekend …
… Another Cold Front Sweeps Across Texas Saturday …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a low pressure area is over northern Missouri with a series of cold fronts extending south southwestward through Texas. Surface high pressure, behind the front, is located on western Wyoming. As a result of this surface weather pattern, winds are northwesterly.

On the upper air map… within a mostly zonal (west-to-east) wind flow, an eastward moving upper level low pressure area is over eastern Kansas. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west northwesterly 100 to 110 pm.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

The upper air low pressure disturbance, currently over eastern Kansas, has resulted in a series of cold fronts moving through Texas this morning. Clouds have broken and the atmosphere has dried out in the wake of the series of fronts.

A dry stable weather pattern will prevail through mid into late week with plenty of sunshine and temperatures near or slightly above seasonal averages.

As another low pressure area develops and approaches Texas from the west northwest later this week, we’ll see clouds and humidity increase with rain chances going up Thursday and Friday. The cold front will move through the area by late Friday night into Saturday morning with the best chances of rain. Current NWS guidance suggests rainfall for this period will be 1/4 inch or less.

In the wake of the front, clouds and rain chances will decrease by later in the day Saturday into Saturday night with cooler air progressing southeastward over the area.

A dry and stable air mass will prevail over the area for Sunday into the early part of next week.

Have a good Monday….
