… Clouds Return with Some Rain Chances …
… Another Cold Front Due Sunday with A Chance of Rain …
… Plenty of Sunshine to Greet the New Week …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… arctic high pressure is centered over the southeastern USA. A surface low pressure area is located over southeastern Colorado with trough, or line, of low pressure extending south southwestward through eastern New Mexico and far west Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, winds are east southeasterly.

On the upper air map… a rather chaotic west to east wind flow is in place across the USA with a disturbance embedded within the est to east flow over central and east Texas. Another trough, or line, of low pressure is off the west coast of the USA and southwestern Canada. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west southwesterly 45 to 50 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

The upper air low pressure disturbance, currently over Texas, has resulted in the cloud deck overhead holding in place. We see a few sprinkles and rain showers develop today into tonight as the system moves well to the east of the area. Rainfall amounts, during this period, will average less than 1/10th of an inch.

As the disturbance passes, we’ll see the clouds break by late tonight into early tomorrow with warmer temperatures and more sunshine expected as we begin the weekend.

Clouds will increase again quickly by tomorrow night into Sunday as a cold front approaches the area. At this point, I see a better chance of rainfall – rain showers and even a thunderstorm or two – by after midnight tomorrow night into Sunday as the front passes on Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Rainfall amounts, for this event, will average 1/4 inch or less.

Clouds will break late in the day Sunday with a resulting clear to partly cloudy sky late Sunday night through the first three or four days of next week. Temperatures are forecast to be near or slightly above seasonal levels.

Have a good Friday….
