.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..
.. Another Dry Cold Frontal Passage on Thursday ..
.. Potential Weather Changes by Middle and Latter Part of Next Week …

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is located well to the east of our area over the southeastern USA and the western Atlantic Ocean basin. A cold front extends southwestward from the western Great Lakes into a surface low over central Kansas then into Colorado and a developing surface low pressure area over southwestern Colorado. A cold front extends southward from the low through western New Mexico and into extreme northwestern Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are southerly.

On the upper air map… a rather zonal (west-to-east) upper level wind prevails over the USA with upper air low pressure disturbances embedded in that wind flow over northern Florida.. the central Gulf of Mexico.. just west of Hudson Bay.. northwestern New Mexico as well as just off the British Columbia coast over the eastern Pacific. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are west southwesterly 30 to 35 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Even with patchy morning low clouds and fog this morning, a fairly dry and stable weather pattern continues.

Over the next few days, several dry cold frontal passages are expected.. one due by late tonight and another one on Thursday. Temperatures will cool a bit in the wake of the fronts. Temperatures, on average, will be near or slightly above average over the next seven days.

With the stable and relatively dry weather pattern in place, I do not anticipate and precipitation over south central Texas through early next week.

Although it’s just beyond our seven day forecast period, the atmospheric computer model guidance is now more strongly suggesting a major upper air pattern change over North America by the middle and latter part of next week. Current indications are that we’ll see a wetter and cooler weather pattern developing over parts of Texas. I’ll continue to keep an eye on this potential weather pattern change.
