.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..
.. Another Dry Cold Frontal Passage Later Today ..
.. Potential Weather Changes by Middle and Latter Part of Next Week …

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is to our east over the southeastern USA. Another cold front extends is moving south southeastward from western Missouri and central Oklahoma through the southern Texas panhandle into northeastern New Mexico and southern Colorado. A surface low pressure area is over west and southwestern areas of Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are light and variable.

On the upper air map… a rather zonal (west-to-east) upper level wind prevails over the USA with an upper air low pressure disturbance within this upper air wind flow extending southward from Hudson Bay into the Great Lakes. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are west northwesterly 45 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Another dry cold frontal passage is expected later today and it act to reinforce the air mass in place over the area.

A southerly surface wind will return by late Friday through the weekend with a slow warming trend and a slow return of low level moisture expected into early next week.

The atmospheric computer model guidance continues to suggest a major upper air pattern change over North America by the middle and latter part of next week. Current indications are that we’ll see a wetter and much cooler weather pattern developing over parts of Texas.

Have a good Thursday….

Updated 915am CT – Wednesday / 29 November 2017

.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..
.. Another Dry Cold Frontal Passage on Thursday ..
.. Potential Weather Changes by Middle and Latter Part of Next Week …

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a weak cold front extends southward from a surface low over the Oklahoma/Arkansas border to near College Station then south southwestward to near Eagle Pass. High pressure.. behind the front.. is situated from west Texas and eastern New Mexico northeastward into the western Great Lakes.
As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are northwesterly.

On the upper air map… a rather zonal (west-to-east) upper level wind prevails over the USA with upper air low pressure disturbances embedded in that wind flow over the Kansas/Missouri/Arkansas/Oklahoma border area and another just off the California coast over the eastern Pacific. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are westerly 40 to 50 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

As the upper air low pressure disturbance to our distant north northeast moves eastward, a weak dry cold front has passed east southeastward through the area earlier this morning. Temperatures will cool a few degrees in the wake of the front.

Another dry cold frontal passage is expected on Thursday. Temperatures will again cool a bit for the end of the week into the weekend.

A southerly surface wind will return by late FRIDAY through the weekend with a slow warming trend expected into early next week.

Although it’s still beyond our seven day forecast period, the atmospheric computer model guidance suggests a major upper air pattern change over North America by the middle and latter part of next week. Current indications are that we’ll see a wetter and cooler weather pattern developing over parts of Texas. I’ll continue to keep an eye on this potential weather pattern change.

Have a good Wednesday….
