.. A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues ..
.. Another Cold Front Passes Early Tomorrow ..
.. Clouds and Rain Chances by Early and Mid Next Week ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a low pressure area is located over the northern Mississippi Valley with a southward moving cold front extended southward into Nebraska then westward into Wyoming. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are west southwesterly.

On the upper air map… a dynamic deep trough, or line, of upper air low pressure stretches south southeastward from Hudson Bay across the Great Lakes southeastward into the southeastern USA. Another low pressure trough extends from the Hudson Bay low pressure area southwestward into the northern Rockies. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are westerly 30 to 40 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Abundant sunshine will continue today as temperatures will turn unseasonably warmer today.

Another stronger cold front, in association with a passing upper air low pressure disturbance, will cross Texas in the predawn hours tomorrow. Due to the dry and stable air mass in place ahead of the front, little in the way of sensible weather (other than the wind shift) will occur as the front passes.

Under a clear sky, cooler and drier air will once again dominate for the upcoming weekend with the coolest air so far for the fall season. Overnight lows for Friday night and Saturday night will reach the 30s in most areas away from urban areas.

Winds will shift back south southeasterly Sunday into Monday ahead of another cold front which is expected to move into our area Tuesday. At this point, the front is expected to weaken overhead with several passing upper level low pressure disturbances contributing to an increase in cloud cover and better rain and even thunderstorm chances. Current NWS guidance indicates 1/2 to 1 inch of rain, on average, locally for Tuesday into Wednesday of next week.

Have a good Thursday….
