.. Clouds Thicken as We Start the Week ..
.. Better Rain Chances Tomorrow Into Early Thursday ..
.. More Sunshine Late Week into the Weekend ..

On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is over the northeastern USA. A surface low is over eastern South Dakota with another over eastern Nebraska. These lows anchor a southeastward moving cold front that runs from the lows into central Kansas then into southwestern Kansas and westward along the Colorado/New Mexico border. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are easterly.

Upper air map… upper level high pressure extends eastward from south Texas into the southeastern USA and the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. A deep trough, or line, of upper level low pressure extends from south and western Canada over the western half of the USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our area are westerly about 40 to 45 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

A disturbed area of weather over the northern and western Gulf of Mexico will move northwestward onto the Texas coast over the next 12 hours with increased clouds and better rain and thunderstorm chances beginning by daybreak Tuesday and continuing through Wednesday before decreasing by daybreak Thursday. The latest National Weather Service rainfall guidance suggests that most areas will end up seeing 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain with isolated heavier totals.

A drier and more stable weather pattern will once again take hold by Thursday into Friday and over the upcoming weekend.

Initial guidance suggests a stronger cold front for Texas for the early part of next week.

Have a good Monday….
