TK’s Weather Update for Tuesday / 01 August 2017 ….

Updated 915am CT – Tuesday / 01 August 2017

.. Rain Chances Increase Mid and Lake Week Through the Weekend ..
.. Clouds on the Increase with Temperatures Closer to Average ..

On the Weather Map…
Surface map… high pressure is located over northern Illinois. A weak trough, or line, of low pressure extends southward from eastern Colorado and western Kansas into west Texas and eastern New Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds across south central Texas are easterly.

Upper air map… a trough, or line, of upper level low pressure trough (line of low pressure) is over the eastern half of the country. An upper air high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, has continued to settle westward and is now centered over Nevada and Utah. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over south central Texas are northerly less than 20 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Slightly drier air has settled over the area with plenty of sunshine today with high temperatures continuing to be above average.

By late tonight into tomorrow and through the remainder of week through the upcoming weekend, a series of upper level low pressure disturbances, coming in on counterclockwise upper air flow on the west side of that upper air trough over the eastern half of the country, will result in increased cloud cover and an increased precipitation chances. Current NWS/Weather Prediction Center guidance suggests one to two inches of rain for the period. Temperatures will fall back to seasonal levels.. even a little below.. with the additional clouds and precipitation chances.

It looks like clouds and rain chances will decrease by the first part of next week.

Have a good Tuesday….
