… Another Reinforcing Surge of Colder Arctic Air Moving into the Area …

The high temperature for the day (around 50F degrees) has now been recorded at KAUS/Austin
Bergstrom International Airport and KATT/Austin City-Camp Mabry with temperatures expected
to slowly fall through the remainder of the day.

The reinforcing arctic air is now moving southward through our area with increasing northerly surface
winds. Patchy light drizzle is still possible over the next few hours but is expected to taper off across
our area by the evening hours before temperatures fall.. back in the advancing colder air.. to near
freezing in the overnight hours tonight. Areas to our north.. including the Waco and Dallas/Fort Worth
metroplex could see rain briefly mix with or change to snow before the precipitation ends by mid to
late evening tonight.

Skies will start to clear locally in the wake of the surface and upper level low pressure storm system by
the predawn hours tomorrow. With this.. and given the new reinforcing arctic surge and expected clear
sky.. I expect a widespread, and potentially hard, freeze for the area tomorrow night into early Tuesday
morning.

I’ll continue to keep you advised..
