TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 845am CT – Friday / 2 May 2014

…. Southerly Surface Winds Return Low Level Moisture and Humidity over the Weekend ….
…. A Dry Weather Pattern over the Next Seven Days ….

On this Friday morning…. surface high pressure is overhead of southeast Texas and northwestward into the central Rockies. A trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure is over western Arkansas.. southeastern Oklahoma and north central Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are light westerly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere… a deep counterclockwise rotating trough, or line, of upper air low pressure extends southwestward from the Great Lakes southwestward into Texas. As a return of this upper air wind pattern, the upper level winds over south central Texas and the Austin metro area about 18,000 feet above the ground, are west southwesterly 35 to 45 mph.

Even with mid and high level cloud cover overhead, I still expect lots of sunshine to prevail for the next few days as surface high pressure moves to the east of the local area.

Surface southerly surface winds will return with a corresponding increase of low level moisture over the weekend into next week. Clouds will increase a bit with the return of late night and early morning low cloudiness.

Temperatures will be warming to or even above seasonal averages.

Unfortunately, I do not see rain chances for south central Texas over the next seven days.

Regarding my forecast, my local forecast confidence: My forecast confidence is high to very high today through the seven day forecast period.

Have a good Friday…
